KCR says his Telangana struggle is for the weak

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said Dr B.R. Ambedkar wanted leaders to fight for the weak and downtrodden in society. KCR said he had heeded Dr Ambedkar's advice by struggling for the weak in Telangana. `Because the Constitution framed by the Founding Father was there, in all humility, we have been able to achieve Telangana for the weak and the downtrodden. Lone and lean (double entendre), I had achieved Telangana,' KCR said to guffaws of laughter all round at Tank Bund where he laid the foundation for the 125-ft-high Ambedkar statue on his 125th birth anniversary. What KCR meant was he was naturally lean and he had worked for the betterment of the lives of the weak in Telangana. Speaking at the public meeting held in connection with the foundation-stone for Ambedkar statue, KCR commended the ideals of the Constitution to be followed by all. He called the people to work for the vision of Dr Ambedkar. Earlier, the Chief Minister garlanded the existing Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund and paid floral tributes to the founder of the Constitution. At Borabanda, KCR laid the foundation stone for a building to house the Centre of Dalit Studies. Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and several State ministers were present on the occasion.
