NIT Srinagar campus remains tense
The situation at the National Institute of Technology campus in Srinagar remained tense on Thursday even a week after it turned for the worse following a clash between the local and outstation students over the India-West Indies cricket match result.
The police bandobast at the NIT campus was tightened even as the outstation students faced police brutality on the campus. The Central Reserve Police Force has since been deployed.
Several political parties have condemned the police action at the NIT and demanded security for the outstation students.
Valley-based separatists have warned of serious consequences if the issue persisted.
