JNU ranking stuns the nation into cynicism
Guess, who laughs at Jawaharlal Nehru University being declared among the top III in the country?
It's the JNU Students Union president, Kanhaiya Kumar, himself.
Guess, who laughs at the whole charade of the JNU being declared among the top three varsities by the Union Human Resources Ministry and the JNU students union president having a good laugh over it, the country as a whole.
Why? The JNU has the outstanding faculty, but the students are nowhere tops. You think of the current experts in a subject, the faculty is there. That being the case the JNU produced such students currently who are neither the best in anything nor basically even disciplined. Forget about their educational credentials, they are alleged to indulge in open urination.
One of the faculty (a lady Professor) objected to this dirty practice. You know who went out of the university, the lady Professor and not Kanhaiya Kumar. She took up a job in Delhi University.
And what have the students been studying the whole academic year? Azadi, as if they are in chains. They eulogise such murderous characters as Afzal Guru, the convicted terrorist mastermind who wanted the whole lot of Indians in chains because of his own problems.
What has Kanhaiya Kumar to say about all this? He accuses the Centre of exploiting the unrest in the university on the one hand and including the JNU among the top three on the other. `What a joke.' Indeed, it is.
Cynical then are the rankings, the less said the better.
