Muralimohan asks why delay in Special Status for AP

Tollywood actor and film producer Muralimohan on Tuesday stated that the BJP was being overambitious in preparing for a government in Andhra Pradesh. He chided the BJP for denying the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh. Perhaps it was withholding the SCS in order to cash in on it when the time came. Speaking to the media in New Delhi, Muralimohan alleged that the BJP was trying to form a government of its own in AP. He did not say whether it was proposed to be done after the next elections or right away. In any case, he said that was a very difficult task for the BJP. The film producer noted that the BJP-led government at the Centre was not saying that it would not give SCS for AP. Hence why the delay, he asked. He further noted that along with AP, there were nine other States that were also demanding the SCS for their respective States. The Congress-led UPA government had played mischief in regard to the SCS for AP. While in the AP Reorganisation Bill the SCS was proposed, in the subsequent Act the status was deleted. This was pointedly revealed in the Lok Sabha by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu, when the opposition Congress waxed eloquent by its pindrop silence.
