Balakrishna regrets anti-women remarks, made for delighting fans

Tollywood Star Balakrishna pleaded in the State Assembly on Tuesday that if there were any misgivings regarding his remarks against women made recently, he should be pardoned for the same. It was not his intention to demean women in anyway. Balakrishna said he had made the remarks at the `Savitri' audio release function in his usual filmy style. But at that time the audiences were simply delighted. The actor said his only desire was to entertain the audience, and not to demean anyone, women the least of all. He recalled in this regard the higher stature given to women by his father, NT Rama Rao. He would continue the practice. He said emotionally that in future he would remember the model set by his father. As an opposition leader tried to intervene, Balakrishna simply shooed him away.
