Not a brick laid in Amaravati, but WTC is taking shape

Apart from the foundation-stone, not a brick has been laid for the construction of a new capital for Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati. But an agreement for the construction of a World Trade Centre a la New York has already been signed. The World Trade Centre at Amaravati is also going to be biggest construction in the new Andhra capital. The Rs.800-crore skyscraper is expected to rise simultaneously with the capital construction. Not only that, Andhra Pradesh has attracted Rs.3.88 lakh crore investment for the development of the State. Among the MoUs signed, Rs.13,000 crore will focus on the Capital region. Another unique feature is while Amaravati is the State capital, the investment summit is going on in the port city of Visakhapatnam. All this points to Vizag going to be the commercial capital and Amaravati the political capital of the new State. Think of the common capital of Hyderabad for another 9 years. Any Andhra would say forget it, even before the completion of 9 years.
