Hyd women terrified to wear gold jewellery

Hyderabad, Oct 06: Women in Hyderabad are wearing imitation gold jewellery due to the sudden spurt in chain-snatching incidents. After coming to know about the brutality of chain-snatchers and the injuries suffered by the victims, many women have given up wearing gold jewellery while stepping out for events or on way to office. Since January 2015, 400 chain snatching cases were registered in the city. Housing colony associations in the city urged the police to increase checking and patrolling to prevent chain-snatching incidents. Some victims even demanded police to register 'attempted murder' cases against chain-snatchers. Police intensified patrolling and installed CCTVs at main thoroughfares to prevent chain-snatching.
