Farmers' suicides continue unabated in Telugu states

Guntur, Oct 02: The unremitting waves of farmers' suicides continued in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana with four more farmers taking their lives today. According to reports, a cotton farmer committed suicide at Chenchureddypalem near Gudluru in Prakasam district today. Boyina Elisha hanged himself in his house after admitting his pregnant daughter in the Government Hospital at Kandukur. The farmer owns three acres of land and leased another four acres to cultivate cotton. He was in deep debt due to failure of crop in four consecutive years. In Telangana three farmers committed suicide due to mounting debt burden and crop failure. Ramaiah, a resident of Kalher mandal in Medak district, hanged himself to death. A tenant farmer Ajmira Bujji committed suicide at Bangarugudem Tanda in Kuravi mandal of Warangal district. Bandi Naresh (35), a tenant farmer, committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Jaffergaopeta in Srirampur mandal of Karimnagar district.
