Row over Jagan’s holy dip with cross

Vijayawada, July 16: YSRCP chief and Leader of Opposition in AP Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s holy bath during Godavari Pushkaralu by wearing cross around his neck has led to controversies in social media. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) former president Yelamanchili Harishchandra Prasad posted a video of Jagan taking holy dip on Facebook. Prasad commented that he was surprised to see a Christian doing Hindu rituals and questioned as to when did Jagan start believing in Hindu traditions. He opined that the video will be useful as a good publicity material for Hindu right wing organizations like VHP and Bajrang dal. Users on YSRC’s official Facebook supported Jagan stating that it was his prerogative. While some of them commented that he was a Hindu as he took part in Hindu rituals, others pointed out his mother carrying Bible during election campaigns. Jagan also performed ‘Pinda Pradhanam’ (rituals) to his father Late Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at Kovvur.
