Diabetics are eligible for govt jobs: Madras HC

Chennai, July 15: The Madras High Court has ruled that diabetics are eligible for government jobs. The court opined that there was no scientific evidence to prove that diabetics cannot discharge their duties effectively. A division bench headed by Justice V Ramasubramanian and Justice T Mathivanan struck down the petition filed by the Southern Railways stating its unwillingness to offer job to a woman suffering from diabetes. The court directed the railway officials to issue appointment order to the victim within eight weeks. The court said that it would not accept the officials’ version that diabetics will not discharge duties properly without a scientific evidence.
