Farmers besiege MLA’s house

Nellimerla (Vizianagaram), July 13: Demanding the government to withdraw its decision to set up Greenfield Airport at Bhogapuram, the project evacuees and farmers besieged the residence of TDP MLA Pathiwada Narayanaswamy at Nellimerla in the district today. The farmers asked the MLA to join the protest against the airport. Angered by the MLA’s statement that the issue comes under the purview of the Centre, the farmers locked up the MLA at his house. It may be noted that despite the farmers opposition, government was planning to acquire 5,551 acres land for the airport at Bhogapuram in the district. The National Airports Authority of India (NAAI) also approved the project.
