TS releases water for Pushkaralu
Hyderabad, July 12: The Telangana government is releasing water from Sriram Sagar Project (SRSP), Yellampally and Kadem projects to ensure sufficient water at bathing ghats along the River Godavari in the State in view of Pushkaralu scheduled to be held from July 14. There are 106 bathing ghats across the river in 5 districts of Telangana. Despite releasing water from dams, bathing ghats at Basara and Kandukur will not have sufficient water. The official dug borewells in the river bed and made arrangements for shower bath at these places. TS government’s efforts to get water released from Vishnupuri and Gaikwad projects in Maharashtra have not yielded results. The officials were releasing 3,000 cusecs of water downstream from SRSP and Kadem projects when the reports last came in.
