TS to plant 230 crore saplings in next 3 years
Adilabad, July 12: The State government has devised plans to plant 230 crore saplings across the State under the ‘Haritha Haram’ programme in next three years, said Forest Minister Jogu Ramanna. Speaking to the reporters here, the Minister reminded Union Minister Prakash Javadekar’s compliment that Telangana would emerge as a role model to other States in improving green cover. Ramanna termed the programme as brainchild of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. He said that KCR was implementing the programme on a mission mode. In all, 22 lakh saplings were planted in Adilabad district so far. Protecting saplings is as important as planting, he added. He lauded Peddapalli MP Balka Suman for launching a programme to plant 2.5 lakh saplings on a single day.
