DSC questions won’t disappear with diversionary tactics, says YSRCP leader
Visakhapatnam, Aug 23 : YSR Congress Party Regional Coordinator and former Andhra Pradesh minister Gudivada Amarnath accused the state's Chandrababu Naidu government of trying to divert attention from the Mega DSC controversy instead of responding to the questions posed before the public.

Amarnath reiterated YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s challenge for CBI investigations into both Mega DSC-2025 and APPSC recruitments, saying there should be no hesitation if the government truly believes both processes can withstand scrutiny.

He said serious questions remain over 372 sports quota appointments made without the regular DSC examination, questionable sports certificates, money-for-job audio and video material, and the Rank-1 controversy involving an outsourced employee. He said the government could not defend the DSC in the Assembly and then avoid detailed scrutiny in the Legislative Council.

The YSRCP leader criticised Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s Anakapalli visit as event management at a time when farmers were facing drought, crop distress and unpaid dues. With only about 5,000 hectares out of 56,000 hectares under paddy cultivation in Anakapalli, he demanded immediate drought declaration and relief.

Amarnath also challenged Minister Lokesh’s claim that data centres would create 1.80 lakh jobs, saying the government was offering vast land and incentives without explaining employment potential, water requirement, power demand or environmental impact. With nearly 10 GW of data-centre capacity being proposed, he asked how Visakhapatnam could support such projects when the city itself was facing severe water stress.

He further warned that reducing Polavaram’s project level would threaten water security for Visakhapatnam and North Andhra.

Meanwhile, YSRCP Guntur district President and former minister Ambati Rambabu said the Supreme Court did not give Ramoji Rao a clean chit in the Margadarsi illegal deposits case and that the criminal proceedings ended only because of his death.

Speaking at the YSRCP central office at Tadepalli, he said the dismissal of Undavalli Arun Kumar’s petition cannot be portrayed as a declaration that Margadarsi’s deposit mobilisation was lawful.

Rambabu said that the RBI had questioned Margadarsi’s deposit collection even before Undavalli’s complaint and made it clear that a Hindu Undivided Family could not collect public deposits in violation of Section 45S of the RBI Act.

Margadarsi had collected around Rs 2,600 crore from depositors, and Ramoji Rao later raised funds by selling media assets to repay depositors. "A criminal case may abate after the death of the individual, but financial liabilities do not disappear," he said.

He said Section 45S provides for stringent action and penalties, including a fine linked to the amount unlawfully collected, and maintained that civil and financial liabilities can still be pursued. Referring to a recent Parliament reply to YSRCP Parliamentary Party leader Y.V. Subba Reddy, Rambabu said the Union government itself clarified that HUFs cannot mobilise public deposits and that violations invite regulatory action.
