NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Conducts High-Security Mock Drill Ahead of Tomorrow’s Test
With stringent multi-layered security measures in place, the agency aims to prevent any repetition of the paper leak controversy that led to the cancellation of the original exam held on May 3. Question papers were transported to test centres under tight escort security, and answer sheets were collected using the same protocol during the drill. All examination centres were placed under CCTV surveillance as part of the exercise.Key Guidelines for Candidates
Candidates will be allowed entry into the examination centres only between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM on Sunday. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
Students must carry:
Printed Admit Card
Original government-issued photo ID proof
Two passport-size photographs
Candidates have been advised to wear light clothing (half-sleeve shirts/T-shirts and pants) and simple footwear (slippers or low-heeled shoes). Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, heavy jewellery, and large belt buckles are strictly prohibited inside the centres.
Massive Security Deployment
Approximately 22.79 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the re-examination across 5,440 centres in 551 cities in India and 14 centres abroad.
In a first-of-its-kind security arrangement, NTA has deployed:
1.38 lakh AI-powered CCTV cameras
51,000 signal jammers
Double biometric verification
40–50 security personnel per centre on average
The original NEET UG 2026 exam was cancelled following allegations of question paper leaks linked to coaching centres, particularly in Rajasthan. The CBI is currently investigating the case and has made several arrests. The Supreme Court has adjourned related petitions to July, clearing the way for the re-examination.
NTA has urged students to rely only on official information and ignore rumours.
