Hyderabad, June 16 : Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested an official in the Lands and Surveys Department in a disproportionate assets case, after searches at his premises unearthed assets worth over Rs 13 crore, including Rs 1.54 crore cash.
The ACB officials conducted searches at premises linked to Sunkari Narahari, Deputy Director of Lands and Surveys (Multi Zone-2), alleging that he had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income through corrupt practices and dubious means.
The searches were carried out at his residence and nine other places belonging to his relatives, benamis and associates.
Officials found net cash of about Rs 1.54 crore, bank balances of Rs 2.29 crore, fixed deposits of Rs 5.04 crore, gold ornaments weighing about 1.3 kg, and 8 kg of silver in his house.
The ACB said in a release that two lockers in the name of the accused officer’s wife were detected and will be opened during the investigation. In addition, one KIA Carens Smartstream car was found.

The total value of the assets detected during the searches is Rs 13,05,67,100. The market value of the immovable properties is expected to be many times higher than the document value, the ACB said.
Further verification of additional assets is underway. The case is under investigation. The accused officer is being produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases, Nampally, for judicial remand.
This comes a week after the ACB arrested Roads and Buildings (R&B) Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik in a disproportionate assets case.
The ACB officials conducted searches on June 9 at the residence and other premises linked to Mohan Naik and his relatives.
According to the ACB, assets identified during raids have an official value of about Rs 17.95 crore. However, their market value is estimated at nearly Rs 200 crore. The agency produced Mohan Naik before a court, which sent him to judicial custody for 14 days.
