HC orders TS to suspend termination orders of 1200 power staff
Hyderabad, June 12: The High Court in Hyderabad today issued interim orders in which it told the Telangana government to suspend its orders terminating the services of 1200 AP-native employees working in TS power utilities. It may be pointed out that the TS government released orders on Thursday terminating the services of about 1,200 employees of AP-native working in TS power utilities including TS Genco, TS Transco and other utilities. The sacked employees filed a petition in the High Court, which came up for hearing today. The 1,200 AP-native staff were in deep shock and were depressed over their future, while the Telangana-native employees are rejoicing, according to reports. Earlier, Telangana government had issued relieving orders to 1,200 employees of AP origin, which literally made them jobless. "The future is bleak as we are not even sure whether we will get the next month salary or not," lamented an employee. These orders came in the aftermath of TS government approving the guidelines for the division of employees between the two States and as per the guidelines the employee's nativity will be decided by his/her place of birth, which will be treated as the main basis for staff allocation among the two States. According to these orders, 522 employees from TS Genco, 262 from TS Transco, 321 from TSSPDCL and 168 from TSNPDCL were relieved of their jobs. Meanwhile, the AP Energy department officials said that they were not concerned with the issue as these officials do not belong to their State. With the relieving orders from TS government and aloofness from AP government, the employees were left in the lurch.
