River-linking will address farmers' problems: Chandrababu

Ongole, June 5 ,2015: River-linking only will solve problems of farmers, said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu today. Participating in the 'Janmabhoomi- Maa Vooru' programme at Silamvaripalle village in Prakasam district, he reiterated that Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme and Polavaram project would be completed within the stipulated time. He opined that drought in the state can be mitigated if the state succeeds in utilizing 1,000 tmc of 3,000 tmc of water flowing wastefully into the ocean annually. The CM promised to make every effort to resolve the problems of farmers in the State. He said that steps would be taken to make agriculture profitable and to encourage agro-based industries. Later, he inspected dried citrus fruit trees in the village.
