Actor Balakrishna: We will get special status, announcement may come soon

Dharmavaram, May 24, 2015: On a day when Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley ruled out special status to Andhra Pradesh, Hindupuram TDP MLA and actor Balakrishna had announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given an assurance to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on special status. Speaking as chief guest at the mini-Mahanadu here on Saturday , Balakrishna said TDP is determined to ensure that AP would get special status. "We will continue to fight to get special status to AP. Already Chandrababu Naidu had spoken to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue. Modi had given an assurance to Naidu on according special status to the state," Balakrishna said, adding that he has full faith in Modi and an announcement would be made soon. However, contrary to what Balakrishna said on special status , Union Minister Arun Jaitley had ruled out special status to AP. Addressing media persons in Delhi prior to Balakrishna's speech at Dharmavaramm, he said the Centre would give more to AP than what it would get under special status.
