South Africa Crush India by 51 Runs in 2nd T20I to Level Series 1-1
Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, 11 December 2025: Quinton de Kock’s blistering 90 off 46 balls powered South Africa to a commanding 51-run victory over India in the second T20I at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Thursday night. The visitors posted a mammoth 213 for 4 after being asked to bat first and then bowled India out for 162 in 19.1 overs to level the four-match series 1-1.

De Kock, dropped on 12 by Jitesh Sharma, made India pay dearly with a breathtaking display of clean hitting – 5 fours and 7 sixes at a strike-rate of 195.65. He added 83 runs for the second wicket with skipper Aiden Markram (29) after the early loss of Reeza Hendricks. Late cameos from Donovan Ferreira (30*) and David Miller (20*) in an unbroken 53-run stand took South Africa past 210.

India’s vaunted pace duo of Jasprit Bumrah (0-45) and Arshdeep Singh (0-54) endured a forgettable night, leaking runs at over 11 an over, while spinners Varun Chakaravarthy (2-29) and Axar Patel (1-27) were the only ones to apply any brakes.

In reply, India suffered an early jolt when Shubman Gill bagged a first-ball duck. Abhishek Sharma (17) and Suryakumar Yadav (5) perished in the powerplay, leaving the hosts reeling at 32 for 3. Tilak Varma counter-attacked with a sparkling 62 off 34 balls (2 fours, 5 sixes), but received little support from the other end.Once Tilak fell in the final over, caught at long-on off Lungi Ngidi, the innings folded dramatically.

Ottneil Baartman (4-24) and Marco Jansen, Ngidi and Lutho Sipamla (all 2 wickets each) ran through the lower order as India lost their last six wickets for just 44 runs.

Brief Scores:

South Africa 213/4 in 20 overs (Quinton de Kock 90, Aiden Markram 29, Donovan Ferreira 30*, David Miller 20*; Varun Chakaravarthy 2-29) beat India 162 all out in 19.1 overs (Tilak Varma 62, Jitesh Sharma 27; Ottneil Baartman 4-24, Marco Jansen 2-25, Lungi Ngidi 2-26, Lutho Sipamla 2-46) by 51 runs.
