Miss World Contenders Arrive in Hyderabad Ahead of 72nd Edition of Prestigious Pageant
Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, has been lavishly adorned to host the prestigious 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant, which will take place from May 7 to June 2. This international beauty competition will see participation from approximately 120 countries, with contestants already beginning to arrive in the city.
A festive atmosphere has taken over the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad as contestants from various nations arrive to compete in the pageant. With the number of international representatives expected to rise significantly from today, Telangana’s tourism department has made elaborate arrangements to offer a grand traditional welcome to the arriving guests. Special lounges and dedicated help desks have been set up at the airport to facilitate the visitors. Welcome arches showcasing Telangana’s cultural heritage, tourist attractions, and symbols have become a major visual highlight.
According to event organizers, nearly 90 contestants, including Miss Brazil Jessica Scanduzzi Pedrosso and Miss South Africa Joylizé Jansen van Rensburg, have already arrived in Hyderabad. Tourism officials greeted them with traditional honours at the airport before escorting them to their designated hotels.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that representatives from Pakistan will not be participating in the event. In light of recent tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Pakistani contestants are reportedly staying away from the competition. Sources indicate that Pakistani nationals were advised to leave India by April 29, which could be the reason for Pakistan’s absence from the Miss World pageant. However, there has been no official statement confirming this development.
