All 19 TDP MLAs have been placed under house arrest by the Andhra Pradesh state government for the past 72 hours. Soon after N Chandrababu Naidu, the party's leader and former Chief Minister, was taken into custody in Nandyal early on Saturday, police officers paid a visit to the homes of these MLAs and other key TDP figures. His MLAs and other leaders stayed restricted to their houses even after Naidu was brought from Nandyal and appeared in court on Sunday. As a result of the TDP's request for a nationwide shutdown to protest Naidu's detention and subsequent 14-day judicial remand, the situation persisted on Monday.
