In a recent update, the government has announced a welcome reduction in the prices of cooking gas by Rs 200 per cylinder. The Union Cabinet has also given the green light for an extra subsidy as part of the Ujjwala scheme, which has been set at Rs 200. This additional subsidy is being offered as a Rakshabandhan and Onam gift to the citizens. This change means that now, those benefitting from the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will receive a total subsidy of Rs 400 per cylinder. Moreover, the government has planned to provide 75 lakh new gas connections through the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana'. Union Minister Anurag Thakur explained, "The cost of LPG gas cylinders for home use has been decreased by Rs 200 for each and every user. Alongside this, we are also expanding the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, giving 75 lakh new gas connections. Currently, beneficiaries of the scheme are getting Rs 200 as a subsidy. With
