Hyderabad: The maximum speed limit on the 158-kilometer Outer Ring Road (ORR) has been raised to 120 kilometers per hour (kmph) from the previous limit of 100 kmph. The ORR, an eight-lane access-controlled freeway with four lanes on each side, had different speed limits for different lanes. However, the revised speed limit of 120 kmph now applies to the first two lanes. The decision to increase the speed limit was made during a review meeting chaired by Minister K T Rama Rao. Emphasizing the importance of safety, the Minister instructed the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to ensure the implementation of all necessary safety protocols on the ORR.
