Ron Sveden, a retired teacher from Massachusetts, thought he had a tumor in his lung. However, doctors discovered that a pea had actually sprouted inside his lung. Sveden experienced coughing and listlessness, which led him to seek medical attention. Doctors found that his left lung had collapsed and a spot was visible on an X-ray. After two weeks of testing, doctors discovered the pea sprout, which had grown inside the moist and warm conditions of his lung after he accidentally inhaled the pea. Sveden underwent surgery to remove the plant and is currently recovering at home.
