The national security forces of South Sudan have detained six journalists in response to a widely shared video of President Salva Kirr wetting himself. A organization that oversees press freedom, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), claimed on Friday that six South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) journalists had been detained on suspicion of releasing the unlawful footage. According to the Guardian, the video that went viral was shot at a public event in Sudan and clearly depicts South Sudanese President Kiir standing for the national anthem while spreading a stain on his pants. The footage caused several netizens to have second thoughts about Kiir's abilities to lead the nation. Sudan has not contested in any elections since he was elected.
