Gali Janardhan Reddy, a mining magnate and former Karnataka minister who is accused of a multi-million dollar mining fraud, was given a month's visitation privilege by the Supreme Court on Monday. The Supreme Court granted him permission to travel to the Bellary district to meet his daughter and to stay there up to November 6. The special court was also given the go-ahead by a bench of Justices M R Shah and Krishna Murari to conduct daily proceedings and finish the entire process within six months beginning November 9, 2022. The mining baron was also told to avoid Bellary until the trial was finished. The top court said that Reddy will incur harsh punishment for attempting to stall the trial.
