NCP leader Sharad Pawar made the announcement, stating that 17 parties are on board for this unanimous decision. The announcement came a day after the BJP-led NDA named Jagdeep Dhankhar, the governor of Bengal, as its nominee for the second-most important position in the nation. Margaret Alva, a former Union Minister and seasoned Congress leader, was born in Mangalore, Karnataka. She has held the governorships of Rajasthan, Goa, Gujarat, and Uttarakhand for a number of terms. The 80-year-old was chosen to serve in Rajya as a Congressman in 1974. Margaret Alva, a five-term MP, has held the Central Cabinet positions for Parliamentary Affairs and Youth Affairs.
