Sailing event is adding to the glory of twin cities: Telangana Governor

Hyderabad, Aug 13: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Friday said that Hyderabad Sailing Week event is emerging as one of the major attractions of the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
 
Participating as the chief guest at the inaugural of the 35th Hyderabad Sailing Week-2021, here, she said that the sailing competitions in Hyderabad are helping produce international sailors.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of the EME Sailing Club and the Secunderabad Sailing Club for organizing this event on a regular basis and thus promoting the sport of sailing in Telangana and in our country.

“The sustained efforts in promoting sailing have earned a pride of place for our country in the international sailing map,” she added.

The Governor exhorted the young sailors, who are taking part in sailing championships, here, to pursue the sport with passion and dedication so as to excel in the sport and bring laurels to the country.

She motivated them to take inspiration from the achievements of Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra and other sporting icons to excel in their chosen sports.
 
Later, the Governor took a boat ride in the Hussainsagar Lake marking the inaugural of the sailing championships.

Lt Gen TSA Narayanan, AVSM, Commodore, of the EME Sailing Association, Maj Gen JS Sidana, Vice Commodore, EME Sailing Association, R Raghuram Reddy, President of the Secunderabad Club, were among others who spoke on the occasion.
 
Secretary to Governor K. Surendra Mohan, sailors from across the country and others were present.
