Governor Tamilisai pays rich tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda

Hyderabad, Nov 15: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Monday paid rich tributes to the memory of Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the occasion of his 146th birth anniversary.

The Governor stated that declaring and celebrating the legendary tribal freedom fighter’s birth anniversary as the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas is a befitting a recognition to Birsa Munda’s role in the freedom struggle of the country.

On the occasion, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that it was important to remember and recognize the role of freedom fighters belonging to the tribal community.
 
“It is our bounden duty to recognize and remember the role and sacrifices of the tribal freedom fighters and perpetuate their memory. They should not remain unsung heroes,” she added.

The Governor lauded the initiative of the Central government in establishing museums in memory of tribal freedom fighters in different parts of the country.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan called upon the people to take inspiration from the life, teachings, and deeds of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and take his mission forward to strengthen the country.

The Governor also emphasized on the need to protect, promote and perpetuate the rich historical and cultural heritage, traditions, art, and art forms of the tribal people.

“Working for the all-round development of the tribal communities and their empowerment would be a real tribute to the memory of legendary tribal freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda,” she added.

Earlier, the Governor offered rich floral tributes to the portrait of Bhagwan Birsa Munda on the occasion at the historic Durbar Hall in Raj Bhavan, here.

Advisors to the Governor, APVN Sarma and AK Mohanty, Secretary to Governor K. Surendra Mohan and other senior officers were present.
