Hyderabad, May 22: Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on Saturday termed the efforts of Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories in expediting the Sputnik-V vaccine and 2DG anti-Covid drug production as commendable.

She hoped that the expedited production of Sputnik-V vaccine doses and the 2DG anti-Covid drug, developed in collaboration with the DRDO, will be a total game changer in our country’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. She said that the vaccine is the only permanent protection from the pandemic.

The Governor was reviewing the progress in production and distribution of Sputnik-V vaccine and the 2DG drug through a video conference with the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory representatives from Raj Bhavan, here, on Saturday evening.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories for partnering with the DRDO in coming out with the indigenous drug like 2DG anti-Covid drug.
 
“The development of indigenous 2DG drug is in the true spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and vocal for local mandate given by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji,” she added.

Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan urged the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory to expedite the vaccine production in our country and ensure the availability of the vaccine doses to maximum number of people at the earliest so to protect our people from the pandemic.

The representatives of the Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories informed the Governor that by end of July, they would get 2 crore doses of vaccine consignments from Russia.

They stated that efforts were on to produce the vaccine in five Indian sites with collaborative efforts. They were confident to make 15 to 20 crore doses of vaccine available during the next six months through imports and manufacturing within the country. “The equitable allocation of vaccine will be ensured to all the States in our country,” they added.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories’ representatives Kapil, Mallikarjuna Rao, Vemuri Vishwanath, and Ravi interacted with the Governor during the review.

Governor’s husband, renowned Nephrologist Dr. P. Soundararajan and Secretary to Governor K. Surendra Mohan were present.
