Santhana Prapthirasthu is a film that blends the sensitive topic of infertility with entertainment. The trailer generated decent interest. The movie features Vikrant as the lead, with direction focused on presenting a delicate subject without hurting sentiments. Whether this attempt succeeds is explored in this review.
Plot Summary
Chaitu alias Chaitanya (Vikrant) loses his parents at a young age and works as a software employee, living alone as a bachelor. Kalyani (Chandini Chowdary) comes to Hyderabad to write an exam for a government job. Chaitu falls for her at first sight and follows her to Warangal to express his love. Though she initially rejects him, his nature wins her over. She marries him despite her father Eeshwara Rao’s (Muralidhar Goud) disapproval.
Kalyani believes that giving her father a grandchild will solve all problems. However, the couple’s efforts to have a child fail repeatedly. Medical tests reveal an issue with Chaitanya. How does this situation affect him? Does Kalyani’s father try to separate them and arrange another marriage for her? Do Chaitanya and Kalyani eventually become parents? How is Jack Reddy (Tarun Bhascker) connected to the story? What entertainment does Vennela Kishore bring as Dr. Bhramara? The rest of the story answers these questions.
Analysis
The film revolves around infertility, a problem many youngsters face today. The director tries to combine this sensitive issue with humor. Although bold scenes and dialogues appear, they never cross limits, which works in the film’s favour. However, a subject like this requires strong humour, and while the film tries to create comedy, it doesn’t fully succeed.
Emotional depth between father and daughter is also underdeveloped; stronger writing here would have added weight. Increasing the entertainment quotient could have improved the pacing. The first half is decent, while the second half offers more laughs, mainly due to Vennela Kishore’s Bhramara role. Some scenes between the hero and the heroine’s father feel dragging and cause slight irritation. The pre-climax and climax could have been written more sharply.
Performances
Vikrant delivers an adequate performance as Chaitanya, though he falters slightly in emotional scenes. Chandini Chowdary plays her role within its scope. Muralidhar Goud is effective as the heroine’s father. Abhinav Gomatam helps push the narrative forward with his presence. Vennela Kishore stands out with his comedic timing as Dr. Bhramara.
Technical Aspects
Direction is decent, balancing a sensitive theme with entertainment. Cinematography and music support the narrative adequately. Editing could have been tighter in a few dragging portions. The background score works well in lighter moments.
Final Verdict
Santhana Prapthirasthu manages to present infertility with a mix of entertainment. For viewers entering the theatre without expectations, it serves as a simple and enjoyable time-pass entertainer.
