Telangana has started nine new medical colleges, a big step in medical education. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao launched them online from his home, Pragathi Bhavan. This is a record. No other state has opened so many medical colleges in one year using their own money. The new colleges are in Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Khammam, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Rajanna Sircilla, Vikarabad, and Jangaon. Together with improved local hospitals, these colleges will help medical students and patients in those areas. Now, there are 26 government medical colleges. Eight more will open in 2024-2025. Soon, every district in Telangana will have its own government medical college. The Chief Minister is proud because Telangana has the most medical school seats in India, with 22 seats for every lakh people.
