Addressing the crowd in Banswara, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi remarked on Wednesday that the BJP has coined a new term, 'Vanvasi,' implying their desire for Adivasi communities to remain confined to forests. Recounting a conversation with his grandmother, the late Indira Gandhi, he highlighted her view that Adivasis are the nation's original inhabitants. Rahul Gandhi criticized BJP's introduction of 'Vanvasi,' asserting it disrespects the Adivasi community. On the occasion of the International Day of World’s Indigenous Peoples, he paid tribute to the often-overlooked tribal heroes and freedom fighters, while also condemning BJP for renaming 'Adivasi' to 'Vanvasi' and allegedly favoring industrialist Adani over their rights to 'Jal, Jangal, Jameen.'
