Today, Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan, was arrested after being sentenced to a three-year prison term in a corruption case. A court in Islamabad also ruled that he can't be involved in politics for the next five years. Imran Khan, a 70-year-old former cricket star turned politician, was found guilty of selling gifts that he received from foreign leaders while he was prime minister. This was declared illegal. This surprising decision was announced on Saturday by Humayun Dilawar, a judge at Islamabad's district and sessions court. Despite the court's decision, Mr. Khan denies doing anything wrong. His lawyers said they will appeal this decision right away. This court decision happened one day after the Islamabad High Court decided not to support a session court’s previous decision. This session court had said that the Toshakhana case against Khan could go on. The High Court decided that it couldn't.
