London witnessed several British soldiers succumbing to the heat on Saturday as they participated in parade rehearsals donning woollen tunics and bearskin hats. The rehearsals, known as the Colonel's Review, were overseen by Prince William, who serves as the honorary Colonel of the Welsh Guards. During the procession, at least three guardsmen fainted due to the sweltering conditions. The parade involved over 1,400 soldiers from the Household Division and the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery. The temperature in London soared to 30°C, intensifying the challenging circumstances faced by the troops. Following the event, Prince William expressed his gratitude to the participating soldiers through a tweet, saying, "A big thank you to every soldier who took part in the Colonel's Review this morning in the heat. Difficult conditions, but you all did a really good job."
