Kerala: Doctors across hospitals in the Indian state of Kerala are continuing their strike to protest against the recent murder of a young woman doctor by a drug addict. They are demanding that the state government take immediate action by bringing in new legislation to protect hospitals. T he strike, which has been called by various organizations including the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and the Kerala Government Medical Officers' Association (KGMO), has led to a majority of doctors not reporting to work in hospitals for the last 24 hours. The strike is expected to affect Out Patient (OP) services in state hospitals, while Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and casualties will be exempted from the protest. The protesting outfits are also calling for hospitals to be declared special protection zones in the wake of increasing incidents of attacks on doctors on duty.
