In a surprising turn of events on Tuesday, former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan was taken into custody by paramilitary forces at the Islamabad High Court. Khan was scheduled to attend a hearing related to a corruption case when the arrest occurred. Members of his political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claim that police entered the court and forcefully removed Khan from the premises. PTI leader Azhar Mashwani accused the Rangers, a paramilitary force, of abducting Khan from inside the court and called for nationwide protests in response to the incident.
