Amara Raja Batteries Limited, a leading Indian industrial and automotive battery manufacturer, has started construction on a new lithium-ion battery Giga plant in Telangana, with an expected investment of Rs 9,500 crore over the next decade. The foundation stone for Telangana's first Giga factory was laid by Minister for Industries and Commerce K.T. Rama Rao, along with Dr. Ramachandra N. Galla, founder of Amara Raja Group, and Jayadev Galla, Chairman & Managing Director of Amara Raja Batteries Limited. The facility is located in Divitipally, in Mahabubnagar district. Minister KTR praised the investment, stating that it is a significant move for the company and the region. He added that the plant is expected to create around 10,000 direct jobs and an equal number of indirect jobs, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the area.
