Customs officials at the Chennai International Airport recently intercepted a woman passenger who was attempting to illegally transport wildlife from Kuala Lumpur. The officials discovered 22 snakes and a chameleon in the woman's checked-in luggage and seized them under the Customs Act of 1962, along with the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972. The woman under custody is facing charges under both laws. A video captured by airport personnel showed officials using a long rod to remove the snakes from their crates, while some snakes managed to wiggle out on their own.
