The suburban rail service in the city, MMTS, has recently expanded its coverage area to nearly 90 route kilometers (Rkms) by adding new sections like Secunderabad-Medchal and Umdanagar-Falaknuma. Previously operating across only 48 Rkms, MMTS has increased the number of services to 106 in order to cater to passengers in the new sections. This expansion will greatly benefit suburban rail passengers in the twin city region. Indian Railways has introduced 20 new MMTS services between Secunderabad-Medchal, providing more options for passengers traveling to stations like Malkajgiri, Dayanand Nagar, Safilguda, Ramakistapuram, Ammuguda, Cavalry Barracks, Alwal Bolarum, Gundlapochampally, Gowdavalli, and others. Furthermore, 20 MMTS train services that previously ended at Falaknuma have been extended to Umdanagar, the nearest railway station to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. This will be especially convenient for suburban passengers wishing to travel to the airport as they can now easily access it via MMTS.
