New Delhi: YSRTP chief YS Sharmila was arrested by police and taken to the Parliament police station in Delhi on Tuesday after attempting to march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament. Along with party leaders, Sharmila held a dharna and raised slogans against KCR and the BRS government before being taken into custody. During her protest, YS Sharmila demanded that presidential rule be imposed in Telangana to ensure a free and fair investigation into alleged corruption by the BRS government in the Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Project. Sharmila stated that she travelled to Delhi to bring the issue to the attention of Parliament and the public since the project's funding came from debt provided by Central agencies, and Indian citizens' money was involved. Sharmila also alleged that KCR, the Chief Minister of Telangana, tripled the project's cost from the original estimate of Rs 46,000 crore when her late father, YS Rajasekhar Reddy, was the Chief Minister of combined Andhra Pradesh.
