Former minister Ponguru Narayana of the previous TDP regime in the Amaravati capital region of Andhra Pradesh has been questioned by officials of the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (AP CID) over his alleged involvement in a land scam case. Narayana has been questioned at his Hyderabad residence, while simultaneous searches were carried out at his daughters' residences. Narayana's wife and the owner of Ramakrishna Housing Society were also questioned in connection with the case. The AP CID alleges that funds were funneled on a large scale from Narayana's business establishments to those of Ramakrishna Housing Society, and that vast extents of assigned lands were illegally purchased using benamis. The CID also alleges that these lands were purchased outside the purview of the land-pooling system without paying any compensation to the sellers. The CID found that Narayana had allegedly bought some acres of land within the Amaravati Capital region as part of the illegal purchase of about 150 acres.
