Mahabubabad: YSRTP leader YS Sharmila has been taken into police custody in Mahabubabad for making alleged derogatory comments against Mahabubabad MLA Shankar Naik during her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra. According to sources, Sharmila's Padayatra permissions have also been revoked as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential disruptions. Police have registered a case against Sharmila under Section 504 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace, as well as relevant sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. During her Praja Prasthanam Padayatra on Saturday, Sharmila accused the MLA of corruption and land grabbing, and used derogatory language against him. She referred to Naik as a "shameless MLA" who uses "the most derogatory and filthy language against us" for questioning his actions.
