Rahul Gandhi's Full Speech at Bharath Jodo Yatra Closing Ceremony
The 135-day long Bharat Jodo Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi, concluded on Monday with a flag-hoisting ceremony and a public rally in Srinagar. Despite the ongoing snowfall, senior leaders, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah of the National conference and Mehbooba Mufti of the Peoples Democratic Party, attended the rally. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress general secretary, also addressed the gathering.
Rahul Gandhi spoke about the love he received from the people in Kashmir and the fear that BJP members face in the region. He emphasized that the yatra was not just for himself or the Congress, but to stand against an ideology that threatens the foundations of the country. Sources from Congress stated that over a dozen opposition leaders were scheduled to attend the rally, but could not due to the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and the disruption of air traffic.
The Kanyakumari to Kashmir yatra started from the southern tip of the country on September 7th and ended in Srinagar, after covering 3,970 km in 12 states and two Union territories. During the yatra, Rahul Gandhi held over 100 corner meetings and 13 press conferences, with over 275 planned walking interactions and more than 100 sittings. The conclusion of the yatra marks a significant moment for the Congress party as they look to strengthen their position in the upcoming elections.
