In order to allow domestic migrants to participate in the elections taking place in their home states, the Election Commission of India has proposed new remote EVMs (RVMs), which at least sixteen political parties have decided to oppose. On Monday, January 16, the polling body gave the parties an outline of the procedure and demonstrated how the RVMs worked. Anomalies in the poll body's proposed methodology have been raised by the parties, including the Congress. Payyavula Keshav, a senior TDP politician who represented the party, criticised the poll body's action, claiming that it made its own choice without consulting any of the parties and prepared the RVMs. Digvijaya Singh, a senior member of the Congress, had previously criticised the election body's decision to act alone.
