Gali Janardhan Reddy, a controversial mining mogul and former BJP leader, launched his own party, Kalyana Rajya Pragati Paksha, on Sunday and declared that he would contest for the Karnataka Assembly in the Gangavati constituency just four months from now. He put a stop to months of rumours about starting his own party with this. Many people perceive this as Reddy's second foray into politics. Following an alleged rejection from the BJP over his intentions to reenter politics, he made his declaration in Bengaluru. Gali Janardhan Reddy's disputes with BJP leaders have been widely rumoured since since he was jailed on allegations of unlawful mining. He has been free on bond since 2015 despite being charged in a multi-million dollar unlawful mining case.
