Viral: After male MP smacks female MP, brawl breaks out in Senegal parliament
This week, a male opposition lawmaker is said to have slapped a female colleague of the ruling party, which sparked a violent altercation that was captured on camera in Senegal's parliament.
During a budget presentation, Massata Samb and Amy Ndiaye Gniby of the Benno Bokk Yakaar coalition got into a fight.
According to Reports, Samb was speaking to the parliament in response to recent remarks made by Gniby in which she ridiculed a spiritual leader's resistance to President Macky Sall's bid for a third term. Gniby is seen throwing a chair at Samb as MPs attempted to separate the two. Later, other MPs joined the argument, with one taking a chair and yelling at Samb.
The parliament's current session was interrupted shortly after the incident.
