Undavalli Aruna Kumar, a former Congress member, claimed he was the first to object to Amaravati's designation as the capital of Andhra Pradesh. The senior politician said in a press conference on Monday that it was the former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu who proposed Amaravati as the name of the state's capital and the then-opposition YSRCP Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who agreed to it. The farmers would not have been able to offer their lands as donations had Mr. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy objected, he claimed. Mr. Undavalli said after this development only, the farmers of Amaravati have come forward to donate their lands for the development of the state capital. The senior leader responded to three state capitals by saying that the Supreme Court will make the decision.
