According to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, the government is treating sarpanches like beggars. The state's former chief minister has charged that the government is weakening the panchayats. He lamented the fact that panchayats were becoming obsolete as a result of money being diverted from the Finance Commission. It is terrible that sarpanches' protests for rights protected by the constitution were put down. He has criticised the legal actions and detentions taken against sarpanches who spoke out about these matters. Chandrababu pressed the government to grant the sarpanches' association's demands and acknowledge their legal standing. He claimed that all the institutions and significant panchayats in the rural system were being destroyed under the YSRCP government. He demanded that Rs 8,700 crore be redeposited into the village panchayat's funds. Additionally, he demanded that lawsuits against sarpanches who fought for their rights be dropped and detentions be lifted. -
